WHO ALL OVER THERE?!?!

This past weekend, while most (if not all of us) where practicing social distancing, we were summoned together for one of the biggest parties I had ever been blessed to be apart of. There was no cover, no line, celebs were sending bottomless drinks from an open bar to the all the attendees, and er'bdy was in VIP. DJ D-Nice hosted a Saturday night Instagram live party - 9 hours of the best blend of R&B, Soul, Hip-Hop, African, and Caribbean beats.

I woke up Sunday morning to see this whole event was trending and I had missed it.

At that moment I vowed, I was going to park myself at the velvet rope until the doors to Club Quarantine opened! I didn't have to wait too long. The live recording from Saturday was still available for viewing and I wore my knees out dancing all over my damn kitchen until the D-Nice started the next set a little after 5:00 PM, est. from his kitchen.

Within 15 minutes, there was 90,000 people streaming and begging Mark Zuckerberg to not shut the party down. We were connected, united, in solidarity amid uncertainty, all pledging to curb COVID-19 by staying indoors. It was literally the biggest party the world had ever seen on the social media platform. By 10:00PM est., there were well over 105K and the DJ himself, ammased over 1 million followers, having roughly 200,000 followers prior to the day party he entitled "Homeschool".

The playlist was incredible; literally something for everyone and everyone showed up. Imagine partying next to Spike Lee, Larenz Tate, Gabrielle Union, Mariah Carey, Donnie Walberg, Jenny McCarthy, Pink, Naomi Campbell, Tisha Campbell, Quincy Jones, Lena Waithe, Ava Duverney, Holly Robinson-Peete, Will Smith, Rocsi Diaz, A. J. Calloway, Coach K, Stephen A. Smith, Steph Curry, Ludacris, Teddy Riley, Patti Labelle, Raekwon the Chef, Michael B. Jordan, JadaKiss, Styles P, Clarence Avant - the Black Godfather, Kelly Rowland, Fat Joe, Cindy Crawford, Taraji P. Henson, Swizz Beats, Usher, Kenya Barris, Eric B., Lance Gross... even Marsai Martin snuck in with fake ID. We know sis ain't over 21, but it was cool.

DJ D-Nice is doing God's work, uniting the world amidst the COVID-19 quarantine, spreading hope and humanity, one song at at time.

After a while corporate brands and officials stuck their heads in to thank the DJ for throwing a much needed day party. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, former First Lady Michelle Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, Senator Bernie Sanders, plus the folks over at Netflix, Soul Bounce, TV One, even the National Urban League were in the building.

D-Nice wrote on his own Instagram: "I can’t believe that I started the Home School social distancing dance party just four days ago and it’s become a place for us to virtually dance together and stay connected. From my kitchen, I’m able to send positive vibrations to each of you. Thank you for rocking with me."

If you missed it, a party-goer put together a playlist of all the songs from Saturday's "live". You can listen here. But don't miss the next Homeschool party at Club Quarantine. Be a part of "the biggest party in the world"!!
