I TRIED MIKE D'S BBQ SAUCE AND I LOVED IT!!!

What makes a BBQ sauce exceptional or award-winning? Here in the US, BBQ sauce is more than a condiment; it's the center of practically every family gathering, cook-out, and kick-back. Pulled pork sliders, ribs falling off the bones, grilled chicken, and marinated steaks taste best when smothered in BBQ sauce.

Picking the right sauce is serious business! Winning awards on cooking shows and walking away the winner at state competitions all depends on the perfect blend of thickness, flavor, color, and aroma - any sauce just won't do. It's no wonder Mike D's BBQ Sauce won numerous awards and its creator, Michael De Los Santos was profiled on the Discovery Channel Show, I Quit.

I tried Mike D's BBQ sauce for myself and I LOVED IT! It's an all-purpose sauce filled with recognizable spices that can be used on a variety of dishes. I had to use it on different meats in different ways to share my level of satisfaction and delight with you. My experience is detailed below.

Ingredients and Flavor

Ketchup, Water, Honey, Worcestershire Sauce, Onions, Brown Sugar, Apple Juice, Apple Cider Vinegar, Mustard, Liquid Smoke, Salt, Onion Powder, Garlic Powder, Chili Powder, Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate, Italian Seasoning (oregano, marjoram, thyme, basil, rosemary, and sage), and Granulated Garlic. All-together, this combination of seasonings delivers a smokey southern taste that doesn't overwhelm your tastebuds with the right amount of heat to level up your meat whether it's smoked, grilled, fried, baked, or broiled.

Thickness

BBQ sauce textures vary, are identified, and are curated depending on the region of the country in which they are created. They can reign from a watery thin to syrupy thick and everything in between. Mike D's BBQ Sauce falls on the thin end of the spectrum. There's no right or wrong when comparing thickness and texture; the determining factor will come down to personal preference and how the sauce is being used. Mike D's is universal in that it can be used as a dipping sauce, a marinade, or slathered on for grilling.

When Cooked

Most sauces are not all-purpose. Flavor and texture change during the cooking process and for that reason, I decided to try Mike D's BBQ Sauce both cooked on and as a dipping sauce. You can see in the photo below, I mixed my sauce with chunks of red pepper, mango, and pineapple chunks, poured over salmon, and baked in the oven. But in the YouTube video, I used Mike D's BBQ baked on chicken fingers and as a dip for my chicken fingers. When baked on, the meat absorbs the sauce and creates a gooey glaze (YUM). As a condiment, it simply compliments the chicken as it's already prepared.

Anyone who would try this sauce would be impressed and asking for more; that is what makes Mike D's BBQ Sauce both exceptional or award-winning. Mike D's BBQ Sauce's vinegar base, similar to most sauces from the Carolina's, is well-suited for every type of meat on and off the grill. The robust red sauce when cooked releases a mouth-watering appetizing aroma with traditional char-broiled vibes. My YouTube video captures just how much I enjoyed this sauce and I am sure you will too!
