iBuyBlack Launches Unprecedented Virtual Shopping Experience As COVID Cases Rise

iBuyBlack FRIDAY 24-Hour Virtual Pop-Up Shop Is A Cultural Experience that Provides Black Businesses the Opportunity to Affordably Engage Consumers Via Interactive Virtual Booths

Access and opportunity. Beginning at Midnight, Friday, November 27, 2020, for 24 hours straight consumers will be able to go to http://blackfriday.ibuyblack.org and discover a Black-owned business to shop with this holiday season. iBuyBlack FRIDAY 24 Hour Virtual Pop-Up Shop is an unprecedented iBuyBlack.org event. The virtual pop-up has become an answer to Black-owned retail brick and mortar stores that will be negatively impacted by the indoor restrictions imposed on businesses due to the rise of CoronaVirus cases. Many of these retail businesses were also negatively impacted by looting during protests this year. As communities and businesses around the world are having to learn how to maximize virtual environments to do business and connect, iBuyBlack is taking the Black Friday shopping experience virtual. iBuyBlack FRIDAY is a live virtual 24-hour PopUpShop. A 24-hour marathon of shopping where participating vendors and businesses interactively showcase their best holiday offers for 22 minutes live in the mainstage virtual booth and within their own virtual booths. Vendors and businesses have the opportunity to affordably secure 2D virtual booths for an entire 30 days. Then, the vendor may use their virtual booth throughout the holiday season. The live programming on the mainstage includes a live Q&A and chat feature. Live programming is also recorded so visitors may replay anything programming they miss. iBuyBlack’s Marketing Director, Jacqueline Taylor-Adams reports, “ABC (WPVI-TV6 in Philadelphia) reported that since those Americans who have been able to continue to work through the pandemic have not had much opportunity to spend a lot of money, holiday season 2020 promises to be a big shopping season with increased online spending.”

iBuyBlack is encouraging shoppers to spend a portion of their Holiday shopping dollars with a diverse array of up to 48 Black-owned businesses, all safe and socially distanced. Attendees may shop from the comfort and convenience of their homes or wherever they are via their laptops and mobile devices. The I Buy Black 24-Hour Pop-Up Shop will offer an engaging interactive experience that will also feature great music, spoken word, and film trailers from emerging independent artists.

Joel Wilson, Executive Director of iBuyBlack Philadelphia states, “I Buy Black Friday gives the community a chance to celebrate and embrace our culture and practice cooperative economics all while being safe. One of the things we have learned with the projected fifty percent BlackBusiness loss during COVID is that we must be intentional with our spending if we want our communities and families to thrive and have the opportunities we want and deserve.”

I BUY BLACK, Inc. (www.ibuyblack.org) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation with the mission to support and empower black businesses and foster cooperative economics within the black community.
